Reclaimed Water Comes To District Energy Plant IV

UCF Facilities Planning and Construction (FP&C), in partnership with UCF Utilities and Energy Services (UES), recently completed the install of reclaimed water (see purple pipe in the picture above) at our District Energy Plant IV cooling towers. Since July 2020, this project has saved over 7,000,000 gallons of potable water by switching to a reclaimed water source. The project is estimated to save up to 30,000,000 gallons of potable water per year, significantly reduce UCF’s water treatment cost, provide N+1 resiliency to our water source supply, and keep us well within our annual consumptive (water) use permit maximums. A huge thanks to VHB and Ovation Construction, Inc., as well as our UCF Project Manager Chris Harris for a highly successful project!
